Originally from Mauritius Henri is a mostly self-taught artist.

He succombed to the 'Art bug' in his Mid forties whilst living in Adelaide, South Australia

He undertook drawing and painting lessons for a short period until the pressure of his full-time work committments forced him to abandon them.

Henri kept painting and drawing on his own for a number of years, trying to build on the base supplied by his teacher in Adelaide.

When his work committments lessened he was able to recommence lessons under the guidance of another tutor who taught him the methods of the 'Old Masters'.

Work committments once again intervened and Henri has been developing on his own since.

Henri greatly admires the 'Old Masters' and has copied many of their works to gain an insight into their methods and handling of paint.

Their influence is still recognizable today in Henri's art, even though he is trying to break free of their rigidness and discipline.

Henri now lives in Cairns, Far North Queensland, Australia and he paints and draws as a hobby and for the mere pleasure of it!
